Dental Implants We Offer

The following dental implants can be created by our Nelson Bay dental technicians:

  • Single tooth implants
  • Implant bridges
  • Implant-retained dentures
  • All-on-4 full arch
  • All-on-6 full arch

We at Nelson Bay Dental are associated with MoreDent MIS Replacedent. MoreDent have revolutionized teeth replacement through world-leading, Australian made implant technology.

We use only the highest quality of components designed to last a lifetime. This means you can enjoy a high degree of stability, and not have to worry about taking them out to clean (as you would dentures). We will recreate the stability of an actual tooth root with the placement of an implant, enabling it to settle into the gum as a normal tooth would.

Our friendly staff will clearly explain every facet of the implant process. They will also make sure you receive practical advice for maintaining the health and appearance of your implants. If you’d like to find out more, or make an appointment, contact us today.

What is a Dental Implant?

Essentially, a dental implant is a titanium device that is designed to replace the root of a natural tooth. Once the device is implemented into the gum – and given a sufficient period to heal – a ceramic prosthetic tooth can be fitted on top of the implant (in a way that looks just like a natural tooth).

Receiving a dental implant typically entails the following steps:

  • A consultation will take place – covering treatment suitability & cost.
  • If you choose to proceed, a CT-scan, X-rays and digital impressions of your teeth will be taken.
  • An assessment of bone mass will be taken for your jaw. If there is insufficient mass, a specialised bone grafting service may be required.
  • Key-hole, computer-guided implant surgery will take place (under anaesthesia).
  • Following two to six months of healing, impressions will be taken & small posts will be attached to the dental implant to allow the crown or bridge to be anchored.
  • During the next appointment, the custom-fabricated tooth will be permanently implemented

FAQ

  • How long does it take for a dental implant to heal completely?

Depending on the type of implant placed, most cases will be healed in 3-6 months and can then be restored. Our team will let you know of the expected timeframe for your individual treatment and keep in contact with you for any updates.

  • How soon after a dental implant is fitted can I eat solid foods?

With the use of the lastest technologies, the dental procedure is completed through key-hole surgery allowing for minimally invasive treatment. Due to this the post-operative period is relatively short and you are able to continue with your normal daily routine.
